Welcome to the new home of Peter Redford, Fraser Yachts
Welcome. I’m Peter Redford, Managing Director of Fraser Yachts Australia — and this site is my desk. If you’re buying, selling or building a superyacht in this region, I hope it gives you a sense of how I work: quietly, thoroughly, with an engineer’s eye and a client’s interests first.
My path here wasn’t the usual one. Mechanical engineering in Sydney first, then a decade heading international sales for Caterpillar across the Middle East — big-ticket, cross-border dealmaking at an industrial scale. Then the pull of the water brought me home. Forty years on, the boats are still the point: I bought my first at sixteen, and I’ve never been far from one since.
What you won’t find on this site is hype. You’ll find the yachts I represent personally, the way I think about the market, and the credentials behind the advice. If something here resonates, the door is always open.

Sydney: the Southern Hemisphere’s superyacht gateway
More owners are basing — and buying — in Australasia, and the reasons aren’t hard to find: world-class cruising grounds from the Great Barrier Reef to Tasmania, a deep-service marine industry, and a time zone that puts you a short hop from the Pacific islands.
What the region has historically lacked is inventory. That’s changing. With growing demand and improving berthing and refit infrastructure in Sydney, Auckland and the Gold Coast, the right vessel in this market attracts genuine competition — and increasingly, international buyers.
The practical realities matter too: importation and GST treatment, flagging choices, crew availability and charter potential all shape what the right yacht — and the right purchase structure — actually looks like in Australian waters. That’s the conversation I have with every client considering a move into the region.
